A painting inspired by the wisdom and creative spirit of an Amazonian leader, Txana Ikakuru Mukaya. 

“Ikakuru” represents the deep connection I felt on my most recent trip to the amazonian Rio Jordão, in Acre, Brasil. Time spent with these great people was truly life-changing.

They were warm, their music was soothing, and their togetherness was proof of the strength found in unity. Children’s laughter, traditional songs, and the profound healing knowledge shared by the elders went further than touch to leave prints on my soul. This painting is not just a tribute to their culture but a direct call for support. All profits from this piece will go directly to the indigenous community, addressing urgent needs such as access to clean water, which remains a critical shortage affecting their daily lives. Many of these communities also lack reliable electricity; your support will help provide solar power, offering a sustainable and clean energy source that can significantly improve their quality of life. Additionally, funds will support food security efforts to ensure they have access to nutritious sustenance. Your support will help ensure that their way of life continues but, more importantly, they can continue as guardians of this ecosystem. Indigenous peoples are the stewards of our planet’s greatest treasures—the forests, biodiversity, and intricate balance of nature. Their knowledge and traditions are what environmental conservation is based on. The effort put into this painting is an investment in their continued survival and empowerment.
